The New South Wales Independent Casino Commission (NICC) has launched an expression of interest for two senior positions to replace outgoing commissioners. The recruitment process is open until August 3, 2026, following the confirmed November retirements of Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford and Commissioner Stephen Parbery.
Selection Process and Regulatory Oversight
The NSW government confirmed that appointments will adhere to the Casino Control Act 1992. A selection panel will be established to review candidates and submit recommendations to the Minister for Gaming and Racing, David Harris. The procedure also includes the appointment of a probity adviser to oversee the selection.
Crawford and Parbery served as inaugural members since the commission's establishment in September 2022. Their current terms were extended by six months in May. Minister Harris acknowledged Crawford's role in enforcing strict regulatory requirements and overseeing probity assessments during recent inquiries. He noted that both commissioners contributed to regulatory improvements aimed at restoring public confidence in casino oversight.
